Vinton County under Level 3 snow emergency; roads closed to all vehicles

As of 8:15 a.m., the county remains under a Level 3 snow emergency because of icy road conditions, according to the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office.

All non-emergency traffic during a level 3 is illegal, and drivers may be subject to citation.

According to the sheriff’s office, the level 3 status is likely to remain in effect for a couple more hours.

Vehicles abandoned on county or township roadways will be removed at owner’s expense.

According to American Electric Power’s website, 512 customers are without power in Vinton County as of 8:15 a.m.

The county remains under a winter storm warning until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
