Police searching for driver who evaded traffic stop Sunday
March 12, 2012
McArthur Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that led the department on a high-speed chase Sunday and evaded officers’ attempts to stop the vehicle.
McArthur Police Chief Tony Wood said at about 8:30 to 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Officer Kevin Neel attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle Sunday on West Main Street. The vehicle was heading westbound and refused to stop and began driving erratically and at a high rate of speed. Wood said the pursuit was called off for safety reasons.
Wood did not release a description of the vehicle, but said an investigation is ongoing and there are leads on the case.
