On Saturday, authorities found Edna Clay, 97, who had been missing since Wednesday.

According to a news release from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, volunteers were searching a wooded area of the Brooks Martin Road area about a mile from Clay’s residence, when they found her lying in an empty creek down a large embankment.

Clay was alive and talking, but appeared to have suffered injuries from the fall, according to the release. She was flown by Med Flight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

The Ohio Search and Rescue Team, local volunteers Levi Ellis and Jeffrey Hayes, Mid-West Search and Rescue, Zaleski Fire Department, Vinton County EMS, Vinton County Sheriff’s Office and Vinton County EMA director Jayson Potts were involved in the search Saturday.

Several volunteers from the McArthur, Hamden, Zaleski and Wilkesville fire departments, and Deputy William Bowden with K9 Dooley, helped with the search over the last several days.
