Top students for VCHS Class of 2013
Tim Allen is the son of James and Stephanie Allen, the grandchild of James and Joyce Allen and Darrell and Unia Williams. He has four younger siblings: David, Cayla, Isaiah, and Silas. During high school he has been a member of the baseball team as an all-conference player, and the district runner-up, regional qualifying, back-to-back TVC conference championship cross country team as an all-TVC and district runner. He is a three-year member of the state qualifying Science Olympiad team. Tim is also the president of the community service Beta Club. He also enjoys being outdoors any chance he can get, and announcing at the school, and during girls’ basketball games. In the fall he will attend Ohio Christian University to pursue a degree in teacher education.
Adrianna Marilyn Batty is the daughter of Kim Batty. She has been a member of the Director’s Choir and the Viking Players. Anna has also been a member of the Science Olympiad team, Vinton County Unity, French Club, and the school newspaper. Her academic achievements include being inducted into the National Honor Society, receiving the Franklin B. Walter All Scholastic Award, being named WSAZ’s “Best of Class,” receiving Student of the Month for September, and being named Valedictorian. Anna is also the recipient of the Ohio State Land Grant Scholarship and will be attending Ohio State University in the fall to purse a degree in Computer and Information Science and a career in Digital Forensics.
Chloe Musick is the daughter of Timothy and Andrea Winnett of McArthur. Throughout high school, Chloe has been a member of Science Olympiad, Vinton County Unity, Spanish Club, Yearbook, National Honor Society, Just for Kids, Drama Club, Student Council and Upward Bound. She has also participated in cross country, track and tennis. Chloe is currently the president of the National Honor Society. She was the vice president of Vinton County Unity and secretary of the junior class officers. She was awarded the “Most Improved” award two consecutive in cross country and she was awarded the Scholar Athlete award. Chloe won a leadership award in Upward Bound, has been honored as the Chamber of Commerce student of the month for September, and was featured in WSAZ “Best of the Class” program. Chloe won the Jewell-Cutler scholarship to Ohio University. She would like to thank the teachers at VCHS and give special thanks to Mrs. Abele, Jay Simmons, and the Upward Bound staff for helping her obtain such a prestigious scholarship. After graduation, Chloe plans to attend Ohio University to pursue a major in Biological Sciences.
Joseph Paterson is the son of Krisina Cartwright and the stepson of Rodney Cartwright of Hamden. Throughout high school, Joseph has been involved in numerous activities. He attends McArthur Free Will Baptist Church, performs in the Maranatha Drama Team, and is a member of the SALT Youth Group. Joseph has been honored and recognized through his high school achievements. Some of his school activities include Cross Country, Viking Players, Science Olympiad, Track and Field, French Club, National Honor Society, and Director’s Choir. This past year he also completed classes at Ohio University in Athens through the Post-Secondary Options Program. Joseph received two Scholar Athlete Awards and was named the October 2012 Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month. Upon graduating, Joseph plans to continue attending Ohio University where he will pursue a degree in Science Education as a Choose Appalachian Teaching Scholar.
Blake Elizabeth Radabaugh is the daughter of Jason and Gretchen Radabaugh of McArthur. She has three younger siblings: Madison, McKenzie, and Zack. Blake has been actively involved in many school and community organizations. She has participated in National Honor Society, serving as Vice-President. She was in Science Olympiad, where she was a State Qualifier. She was a member of Student Council, Vinton County Unity, Viking Players Drama Club, Director’s Choir, Spanish Club, and has participated in volleyball and tennis. She was also Homecoming Queen, Vinton County Junior Miss, Buckeye Girls Sate Delegate, and was Dorothy in the Viking Players, “Wizard of Oz.” She was a member of 4-H, church youth groups, and has volunteered for various organizations. Blake received Vinton County High School’s Honor Roll Awards and named Vinton County Chamber of Commerce November Student of the Month. Upon graduation, she will attend The Ohio State University, where she will pursue a degree in Marine Biology.
Top Vocational Student
Alisha Stevens is the daughter of Kathryn and Donnie Stevens, of Union Ridge, Albany. She is the Top Vocational Student of the 2013 graduating class. Alisha attended Buckeye Hills Career Center and completed the Cosmetology Program. She met many new friends and people who changed my life during this time and had an opportunity to attend state competition events. Alisha’s future plans include furthering her education to earn a manager’s license and run her own business.
