About us

The Commoner Journal was created in August 2011 for the purpose of bringing up-to-date, web-based news to the communities of Vinton County. The Commoner Journal is a news source put together by the common man, for the common man. The mission of this site is to go beyond being a source of news for the county. It is to be an online community that connects the people of the county to one another and gives them a place to share their thoughts and ideas with other residents like themselves. This is news. This is community. This is Vinton County — online.

We enjoy this paper and sincerely wish the best for it….already it is superior to the Courier in content and depth as well as pictures. Please persevere and stick it out for the long run….nothing but success lies ahead for you !

I appreciate the kind comment. As far as superiority, I don’t know that, but I do know we try the best to share the news of the community to the people who live here. Thank you for using us as your Vinton County news source.

I agree with Jimmy, no need to get the courier since your column was the best part of the paper, it doesn’t hurt that i have known your family years and have walked to the store from where Penny Fairchild lives now many times growing up. Keep it up Paul!!!!

Congratulations to the winner. All the costumes i saw this year was really a sight to see. I enjoy so much every year watching the little ones dress up and the smiles on their faces as they receive their treats. I saw many creative costumes this year. It was a wonderful day watching the street fill up with the trick or treaters.
